Before You Animate It: Five Checks for AI Product Images

Disclosure: This article is from the RelayMe team.

An AI-generated product image can look convincing on its own yet differ from the item a customer will receive. Before turning that image into a video, compare it carefully with your original product photo. These five manual checks can help your marketing team decide what to keep—and what to reject.

1. Check labels and text

Inspect the product name, logo, packaging copy, and any claims or regulatory marks. Look for missing characters, invented lettering, or altered wording. If important text is unreadable or incorrect, do not treat the image as ready for a product page or advertisement.

2. Compare shape and proportions

Place the generated image beside your reference. Check the silhouette, lid, handle, taper, and relative dimensions. A plausible-looking container is not necessarily an accurate representation of your product. Reject candidates that change features customers rely on to identify what they are buying.

3. Review colors, materials, and details

Check whether a matte surface has become glossy, a fabric texture has disappeared, or a brand color has shifted. Consider lighting differences, but do not let an attractive scene hide an inaccurate product. Use the original photo as your reference, rather than choosing whichever candidate looks most polished.

4. Check again after resizing and animation

Approval of the first image is only one checkpoint. After upscaling or extending the composition, inspect the product again for changed details and newly generated elements.

For video, watch the complete clip—not just its opening frame. Look for labels that warp, edges that wobble, or proportions that change during motion. Only use outputs that represent the product accurately enough for the intended placement.

5. Confirm commercial rights

A generated output is not automatic clearance for every commercial use. Review the platform’s terms, the selected model provider’s terms, and your rights to the source material. Check permission for photographs, logos, likenesses, and other protected content before publishing.

Where RelayMe fits

RelayMe is a no-code AI image and video workflow platform. You can connect text, image, and video nodes on a visual canvas, or start with a reusable template. A node’s output can feed the next step, and you can change the input image and rerun the workflow with the same settings.

That repeatable workflow does not guarantee product accuracy. Compare each candidate with the original, keep manual review between stages, and send only approved images into animation. A reusable generation process is useful; a reusable review checklist is just as important.
