I'm a solo developer, and I built VigieWeb, a desktop SEO audit app for Windows aimed at freelancers and small agencies. It's written in Python with Qt (PySide6).
Why a desktop app?
Most SEO tools are monthly subscriptions that live in the cloud. For a freelancer who audits a handful of client sites, that's a recurring cost for an occasional need. I wanted a tool you buy once and run locally.
What it does
- Audits 1 to 20 pages of a site, with the evidence behind each finding (not just a score)
- Generates PDF reports in French or English, with white-label support so you can put your own branding on them
- Builds an action plan and lets you re-audit to show before/after
- Monitors a site (the app has to be open for this)
- Compares your site against 1 to 5 competitors
- Imports Google Search Console data
- Includes a prospecting helper
What it deliberately doesn't do
- No guaranteed rankings (nobody can honestly promise that)
- No rank tracking, no backlink index, no search volume data. Those need big paid data sources, and I'd rather say so than fake it.
Trade-offs I accepted
- Windows 10/11 64-bit only
- The installer is large (about 313 MB) because it bundles its own runtime
Pricing
One-time payment, no subscription. It's sold on Whop: https://whop.com/apps-361b/products/vigieweb-pre-audit-et-suivi-commercial/
Disclosure: the promo video was made with AI tools.
I'd love feedback from other freelancers: what's the one thing you'd want in a local audit tool?
