What you need to know India's arithmetic is stark. NASSCOM estimates the country will need close to 1 million AI-skilled professionals by 2027, against a current trained talent pool of roughly 5–6.5 lakh (about 500,000–650,000). Britain's problem is not appetite, it is evidence. DSIT's AI Labour Market Survey, published in January 2026, found 97% of surveyed organisations identified at least one AI skills gap, 57% reported a technical gap, and 35% are struggling to fill AI roles. The barriers cited were lack of work experience and insufficient technical skills. Most "AI professionals" are not in AI roles.
