What changed on 21 September India South Central is live. Microsoft announced the Hyderabad region at its AI Infrastructure Summit and designated it a strategic hub for Asia and the Global South (Microsoft Source Asia; Business Standard). It is the fourth Indian region, joining Central India in Pune, South India in Chennai and West India in Mumbai. Microsoft says that gives it the largest hyperscale cloud presence in India. Three availability zones from day one, so a workload can be spread across physically separate infrastructure without leaving the region. Effectively zero water for cooling, using enhanced mechanical cooling with air-cooled chillers. This was stated by Microsoft India's President (ANI; The Tribune).
