Same here. I don't know him personally so I don't know how much worth it is to take a chance. Maybe I can take another round of interview to assess other traits or something after talking to the HR team.
A second round of interviews sounds like a great idea. See if there has been growth in between, and maybe you could bring a senior developer that would work with the intern to ask some day-to-day task questions, and help you evaluate the candidate afterwards.
