Industrial IoT Gateway Selection by Use Case: Factory, Energy, Retail, and Transport

There is no single “best industrial IoT gateway” across every deployment.

A factory, an energy cabinet, a retail site, and a transport system may all need to connect field assets to upstream systems. But the dominant constraint is different in each environment.

A factory may care most about machine integration and downtime. An energy site may care about distributed assets and data continuity. A retail site may only need edge computing if there is a real local workload. A transport site may combine cameras, meters, sensors, gates, and displays in one infrastructure node.
