🚀 Introducing RepoMind AI: Building an AI-Powered Codebase Intelligence Platform

Modern software projects contain hundreds of files, functions, and dependencies. For beginners and open-source contributors, understanding an unfamiliar codebase can be challenging.

That's why I'm building RepoMind AI — an AI-powered project designed to make codebases easier to understand and explore.

đź’ˇ What is RepoMind AI?

RepoMind AI aims to help developers interact with their codebases using AI. Instead of manually searching through multiple files, developers can ask questions and get AI-generated explanations.

✨ Current Features

  • AI-Powered Q&A: Ask questions through a simple web interface and receive AI-generated answers.
  • Python File Scanning: Scan a project to identify Python files.
  • Frontend–Backend Integration: Connect a web interface with a Python FastAPI backend.
  • Local AI Integration: Use the Gemma model through Ollama to generate responses.
  • Open-Source Development: Manage and share the project using Git and GitHub.

  • Code explanations with file and line references
  • Change-impact analysis
  • Bug investigation and test recommendations
  • Contributor onboarding and project documentation

These are planned improvements that I aim to develop as the project evolves.

🌱 My Learning Journey

As a first-year B.Tech student, this project is helping me explore AI integration, API development, frontend–backend communication, and open-source software development.

I'm excited to keep improving RepoMind AI, learn from the developer community, and welcome feedback and contributions.
