My Journey as a Beginner WordPress Web Developer
Hi everyone 👋,
I’m Saman, and I’ve recently started my journey as a WordPress web developer. I joined this community because I believe learning together and seeking solutions from experienced developers can make the journey much smoother.
Why I Chose WordPress
As a beginner, I found WordPress to be the perfect starting point. It’s user-friendly, open-source, and powers over 40% of websites on the internet today. The huge community and resources available make it easier to learn and grow without feeling stuck.
My First Steps
Here’s what I started with:
Learning how to set up a WordPress site locally.
Exploring free and premium themes to understand design flexibility.
Installing essential plugins like Yoast SEO, Elementor, and Contact Form 7.
Practicing customization using the WordPress Customizer.
Challenges I Faced
Of course, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing. Some of my early challenges included:
Understanding the difference between themes and page builders.
Figuring out when to use a plugin vs. custom code.
Dealing with responsive design issues.
What I’m Learning Now
Right now, I’m focusing on:
Basic HTML, CSS, and PHP to understand the structure of WordPress.
Creating my first child theme to safely customize designs.
Exploring Gutenberg blocks and how they change the way we build pages.
Why I Joined This Community
One of the reasons I joined the dev.to community is to learn from others and seek solutions to the challenges I face as a beginner developer. I know there’s so much knowledge here, and being part of a supportive community is a great way to grow faster.
My Next Goals
As I continue, I want to:
Learn how to develop custom plugins.
Improve my understanding of SEO and site performance.
Start building small projects for real clients.
Final Thoughts
Being a beginner web developer is both exciting and overwhelming. But every small step feels like progress, and that’s what keeps me motivated. 🚀
If you’re also starting out with WordPress, or if you’re an experienced developer willing to share advice, I’d love to connect and learn from you here. Let’s grow together!
