This is probably one of the hardest posts I've written.
A while ago, I had an idea:
“What if there was a real community where webmasters and developers could share scripts, themes, plugins, tools and actually talk about them?”
So I built one.
I called it ScriptGather.
I spent time working on the forum, categories, design, structure, permissions, resources… basically all the boring stuff nobody sees.
And then I launched it.
...
Almost nobody came.
No discussions.
No resource submissions.
No members posting.
Just me, looking at an empty forum.
And honestly?
It sucks.
I've started quite a few projects before, and seeing them go nowhere has started to get frustrating. You spend days building something, imagining people using it, and then after launch you realize:
Nobody even knows it exists.
I'm not posting this because I think ScriptGather is some revolutionary platform.
It isn't.
It's just a small webmaster/developer community that I'm trying to build from scratch.
The idea is to have sections for things like:
WordPress
PHP
Laravel / Node.js
WHMCS
XenForo
HTML/CSS/JS
SaaS
Developer tools
Themes & plugins
Scripts & resources
But right now, the biggest problem isn't the software.
It's people.
A community without people isn't a community.
So I'm asking for something extremely simple:
If you're interested in web development, webmasters, scripts, themes, plugins, self-hosting, or just building stuff on the web...
Could you take 2 minutes and check it out?
You don't have to buy anything.
You don't have to become an active member.
Even registering, making a post, sharing a resource, or telling me what you think is useful to me right now.
And if you think the idea is bad, that's fine too.
Tell me why.
I'd rather hear “this won't work because…” than have another project sitting in an empty database.
I'm trying to figure out whether ScriptGather is actually worth continuing.
