How Much Does It Cost to Check a Trade Against Your Risk Limits Before It Executes?

$0.005 USDC per evaluation. That is the whole pricing model of the SML Risk Firewall, live today from ScriptMasterLabs: one x402 call checks a batch of 1–100 proposed orders — equity buys, spot buys, and standard long call/put opening buys — against your own stated risk limits, validates every instrument live, and returns PASS, REJECT, or INSUFFICIENT_DATA with the exact USD math, machine-readable rule codes, and an Ed25519-signed receipt.

What one call actually does

You send three things: a policy (your limits), a timestamped account snapshot (yours — the service holds no broker credentials), and 1–100 proposed orders.

The policy is your numbers, enforced as written:

  • maximum order outlay
  • maximum combined batch exposure
  • maximum daily loss
  • buying power
  • maximum contracts per order
  • maximum snapshot age
  • option expiration buffer

Before any payment settles, every instrument is validated against live Tradier and Coinbase evidence. An unsupported contract, a stale quote, or missing evidence fails the call before a charge. Invalid input returns HTTP 400 — also no charge.

A REJECT is not a shrug. It names the rule, the order, the actual value and the limit — the service's own published output example:

{
  "verdict": "REJECT",
  "reasons": [
    { "code": "ORDER_OUTLAY_LIMIT", "orderId": "order-1", "actual": "64.000000", "limit": "60.000000" }
  ],
  "dataSource": "live_instrument_validation_and_caller_account_snapshot"
}

The receipt

Every paid answer carries a receipt {seq, prev, inputHash, outputHash, hash, signature} — SHA-256 over the canonical result, Ed25519-signed, hash-chained to the previous receipt. The verification key is published on the service and receipt verification is a free call. You never have to take the service's word for what it decided or what you paid.

Six rails, one price

The $0.005 USD price is identical on every rail: USDC on Base and USDC on Arc (settled via OMNIGATE), USDC on Solana, and XRP / RLUSD / XAH on XRPL and Xahau (settled via 402Proof, converted at a quoted rate held for the quote window). Loyalty pricing is in the catalog: 20% off after 10 paid calls, 30% off after 100, keyed to your payer wallet.

HTTP and MCP are the same door: the evaluation is also exposed as the MCP tool risk-evaluate on the service's remote MCP server — same validation, same preflight, same receipts.

Not the same tool as a decision jury

ScriptMasterLabs also runs Verdict Protocol — five Jev jurors deciding whether a trade is a good idea, at $0.25 per decision. The Risk Firewall deliberately does no judging. It is deterministic arithmetic: does this sized batch fit the limits you set? The two compose — jury for judgment, firewall for limits — and neither substitutes for the other.

The honest part

The Firewall launched today, and its public receipt chain reads 0. Live and enforcing — its health endpoint reports paymentsEnforced: true, and every rail's payTo was verified against our current wallets before this post — but nobody has paid for an evaluation yet, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The chain is public; the first settled evaluation will be sitting on it, verifiable against the published key, for anyone to check.

Free to inspect before you spend half a cent: the catalog and capabilities endpoints cost nothing.
