The problem with most WebDAV clients on Windows
Every WebDAV client I tried (RaiDrive, NetDrive, Cyberduck) dropped the connection after my laptop went to sleep. I'd open the lid, try to access the mounted drive, and get a "network path not found" error. Re-opening the tray icon and clicking reconnect is a 5-second task, but it adds up.
The 5.5 fix that actually works
ScsDriver's 5.5 lifetime client maintains a background heartbeat that survives sleep and hibernate. The drive reappears as soon as I open the lid. No tray clicks, no manual reconnect.
How I tested it
I closed the lid, walked away for 4 hours, came back, opened File Explorer, double-clicked my Z: drive (mounted Google Drive) - the file was there. Dragged a 200MB video to it - the upload started without any reconnect prompt. This has been working for 6 weeks.
Why I won't pay a subscription for this
The first WebDAV tool I bought was a 30 "lifetime" license. It lasted 13 months then locked itself behind a paywall. I tried Mountain Duck's 40 lifetime, but the license is per-machine - my second laptop needed a separate purchase. ScsDriver's 5.5 lifetime is one key, all my machines, no expiration. Same as their 20 CNY plan in the China region.
Setup is 90 seconds
- Download from drive.scsoi.com
- Install on Windows
- Right-click tray icon, click Connect
- Paste your WebDAV endpoint
- Drive letter appears in Explorer
- Close the lid, walk away, come back, files still there
What I mount with it
- Google Drive (work account)
- OneDrive (personal)
- A friend's SFTP via WebDAV gateway
- An S3 bucket via S3-to-WebDAV bridge
Total cost: 5.5 lifetime.
