I Built a Chrome Extension to Supercharge Linear Task Management

I Built a Chrome Extension to Supercharge Linear Task Management

If you use Linear for project management, you probably already know how fast and well-designed it is. The keyboard shortcuts, the clean interface, the speed — it's a breath of fresh air compared to Jira or Asana.

But after using Linear daily for months, I kept running into the same small frustrations. Things that weren't exactly bugs, just... gaps. Little workflow inefficiencies that added up over time.

So I built TaskBoost — a Chrome extension that layers extra productivity features on top of Linear.

The Problem I Was Trying to Solve

Linear is great at what it does, but I found myself constantly context-switching. I'd be working in one tab, need to update a task, switch to Linear, find the right issue, make the change, switch back. Repeat this dozens of times a day and it adds up.

There were specific things I wished existed:

  • Quick actions for common operations that took too many clicks in Linear's UI
  • Keyboard shortcuts that went beyond what Linear already offers
  • Workflow enhancements that kept me focused instead of bouncing between tabs

I didn't need a different project management tool. I needed Linear to be just a little bit better at the things I do every single day.

What TaskBoost Does

TaskBoost is a Chrome extension that adds a productivity layer on top of Linear. It works directly within the Linear web interface, enhancing what's already there rather than replacing anything.

The extension adds quick actions and keyboard shortcuts that let you handle common task management operations faster. Think of it as power-user features that Linear hasn't built yet (or hasn't prioritized).

Some highlights:

  • Quick actions for frequently used operations — reduce clicks, stay in flow
  • Enhanced keyboard shortcuts — because Linear's built-in shortcuts are great, but there's always room for more
  • Workflow improvements — small but meaningful tweaks to how you interact with tasks

I've been using it myself every day, and it's become an essential part of my workflow. At version 1.2.9, it's stable and actively maintained.

Why I'm Sharing This

I built TaskBoost for myself first. But once I started using it, I realized other Linear users might have the same frustrations I had. So I published it to the Chrome Web Store.

Here's what I want you to know:

  • It's completely free. No premium tier, no paywall, no "try it for 7 days."
  • No ads. Your Linear workspace is your workspace. I'm not injecting anything into it.
  • Privacy-focused. The extension doesn't collect your data. It doesn't phone home. It just makes Linear work better for you.
  • Open to feedback. I'm actively developing this and want to hear what features would make your Linear experience better.

Who This Is For

TaskBoost is for you if:

  • You use Linear as your primary project management tool
  • You love Linear but wish certain workflows were faster
  • You're a keyboard-shortcut power user who wants more control
  • You work with tasks all day and want to shave off unnecessary clicks

It's not for you if you don't use Linear — this is specifically built as a companion to the Linear web interface.

What's Next

I'm using TaskBoost daily and adding features based on my own needs and user feedback. The roadmap includes more quick actions, additional shortcuts, and workflow enhancements that I'll roll out over the coming weeks.

If you have ideas for what would make your Linear workflow smoother, I'd love to hear them. Early adopters shape the product.

Try It Out

TaskBoost is available on the Chrome Web Store. Install it, use Linear like you normally would, and you'll notice the enhancements right away.

No account needed. No setup wizard. Just install and go.

I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback — whether it's a feature request, a bug report, or just letting me know if it's useful. Building tools for other people is the best way I know to make something worth using.

TaskBoost is a free Chrome extension by Haimo. If you found this useful, consider sharing it with fellow Linear users.
