If you build websites for clients in Bangladesh, you've probably noticed something. A site can look great, load fine on your office Wi-Fi and still go nowhere in Google.
Most of the time the problem isn't the content. It's the boring technical stuff underneath.
I've spent about eight years doing SEO, a lot of it on sites aimed at Bangladeshi users. Here's the checklist I actually run before a site goes live.
1. Test on real mobile conditions
Most Bangladeshi users browse on mid-range Android phones over mobile data. Your MacBook on fiber is not your user.
- Run Lighthouse with mobile throttling, not desktop
- Aim for LCP under 2.5s on a throttled 4G profile
- Compress hero images to WebP or AVIF and set explicit width and height
- Lazy-load anything below the fold
A page that takes six seconds on a budget phone loses people before the first scroll.
2. Get language and location signals right
Google needs to know who the page is for.
- Set
lang="en"orlang="bn"on the<html>tag correctly - If you serve both English and Bangla, add hreflang tags (
en-BD,bn-BD) and a sensiblex-default - Write prices in BDT and mention real cities and delivery areas in visible text
- Add
LocalBusinessorOrganizationschema withaddressCountry: "BD"
A .bd domain helps a little. Clear on-page signals help more.
3. Handle Bangla text properly
Bangla content breaks in sneaky ways.
- Use UTF-8 everywhere: database, headers and meta tags
- Load a Bangla web font with
font-display: swapso text never stays invisible - Keep URLs in readable English or transliterated slugs; percent-encoded Bangla URLs are ugly when shared
- Check that your search, sorting and filters handle Bangla characters
4. Crawl and index hygiene
- One canonical URL per page, self-referencing by default
- An XML sitemap that only lists 200-status, indexable URLs
- No
noindexleft over from staging (it happens more than you'd think) - Clean internal links with no redirect chains
- Submit the sitemap in Google Search Console and check the Pages report weekly
5. Structured data that matches the page
Only mark up what users can see.
-
ProductwithpriceCurrency: "BDT"for e-commerce -
FAQPageonly when the FAQ is actually on the page -
BreadcrumbListfor deep category structures
Validate with the Rich Results Test before launch.
6. Payment and trust pages
Users in Bangladesh want to know how they'll pay and who they're dealing with before they buy.
- A clear page explaining payment methods
- Contact, refund and privacy pages linked in the footer
- HTTPS everywhere, with no mixed-content warnings
These pages rarely rank by themselves. But they raise trust and conversion, and Google's quality raters look for them.
7. A quick real-world example
When I audit Bangladesh-focused service sites, such as the SMM panel SMMBooster BD, the most common issues are the same every time: missing meta descriptions, default template copy, no BDT pricing in visible text and generic foreign testimonials. Fixing those local signals usually moves the needle faster than chasing more backlinks.
Quick checklist
- [ ] Mobile LCP under 2.5s on throttled 4G
- [ ] Correct
langand hreflang tags - [ ] BDT prices and real locations in visible text
- [ ] UTF-8 and a Bangla font with
font-display: swap - [ ] Clean canonicals, sitemap and internal links
- [ ] Schema that matches visible content
- [ ] Payment, contact, refund and privacy pages
Nothing fancy. But skip any of these and you're making Google's job harder than it needs to be.
If you work on sites for South Asian markets, I'd love to hear what's on your checklist. Drop it in the comments.

Welcome to DEV. Practical first post, and the mobile-first point about mid-range Android on mobile data is the right starting place. On the leftover noindex from staging, I would also check the X-Robots-Tag HTTP header, because a noindex set at server level never shows up in the HTML. For en-BD and bn-BD, make sure each version links back to the other, since a missing return link makes Google ignore the pair. I would be glad to read more South Asia specific SEO posts from you.
