The word "priority"
used to be singular.
For five hundred years
you had a priority.
One.
Then we made it plural
and pretended
you could have five top things.
You can't.
Five priorities
is just five things
fighting for the same hours,
and the loudest one wins —
not the most important.
Real prioritizing hurts.
It means saying
this one first,
and these four wait,
and yes, that has a cost.
If everything is urgent,
nothing is ranked,
and you're not choosing —
the calendar is choosing for you.
Pick the one.
Do it well.
Then pick the next one.
A list of five "top" priorities
is a wish, not a plan.
