How Different Color Palettes Can Transform a Pixlab – Creative Agency HTML Template

Introduction

When people think about redesigning a website, they often focus on changing layouts, typography, or adding new features. However, one of the simplest changes can have the biggest visual impact: the color palette.

To demonstrate this, I experimented with the Pixlab – Creative Agency HTML Template by applying several different color palettes while keeping everything else exactly the same. The layout, content, spacing, and components remain unchanged—the only difference is the colors.

This experiment shows how the right combination of colors can create completely different visual experiences while keeping the same website structure.

Why Color Matters

A well-chosen color palette can influence how users perceive a website. It can make a design feel more modern, professional, creative, energetic, elegant, or minimal without changing its underlying structure.

For creative agency websites, color is especially important because it can contribute to the agency's visual identity and communicate its creative personality. Colors can also help draw attention to portfolios, services, important content, and calls to action.

A balanced palette can make creative work stand out while maintaining a clear and consistent user experience.

What Changes?

In the demonstration, only the colors are updated:

Primary and secondary colors
Buttons and links
Background sections
Portfolio and project cards
Service sections
Navigation elements
Accent colors
Call-to-action sections
Other UI components

The layout, content, spacing, and overall structure remain unchanged.

The result shows how dramatically the appearance and personality of a creative agency website can change with different color combinations.

Watch the Demonstration

The following video shows the same creative agency website using multiple color palettes so you can compare how each combination changes the overall look and feel of the design.

Things to Consider When Choosing a Website Color Palette

Keep sufficient contrast for readability.
Use one dominant primary color.
Limit the number of accent colors.
Maintain consistency across components.
Test colors in both light and dark sections.
Consider accessibility guidelines for text and interactive elements.
Choose colors that support the brand's visual identity.
Use accent colors strategically for portfolio items and calls to action.
Make sure the palette complements the creative work displayed on the website.

Which Palette Works Best?

There isn't a single "best" color palette. The ideal choice depends on the agency's branding, target audience, creative style, and the message it wants to communicate.

Different palettes can give the same creative agency website a completely different personality. A bold palette may create an energetic impression, while a softer or more neutral palette can create a refined and minimalist appearance.

Which version do you prefer? I'd be interested to hear which palette feels most suitable for a creative agency and why.

The color palette variations shown in this demonstration were created using Sez, a tool for experimenting with and previewing different color palettes on HTML website templates.
