Box Cricket Scorer — Track Live Scores and Share With Friends (Free, No Login)

Box cricket is fast. A match is over in 45 minutes. The last thing the scorer wants is to pass a phone around, lose track of overs, or manually WhatsApp the final scorecard.

What Box Cricket Scorer Does

It's a real-time scoring tool built specifically for box cricket — not the full 11-a-side game, not a generic sports app. Three things it solves that existing scorers don't:

1. A view-only share link
The scorer generates a match and gets a shareable URL. Anyone who opens that link on their phone sees the live score — updating every few seconds. No login, no app install.

2. Pass the phone (handover scoring)
If the scorer needs a break, they tap "Hand Over Scoring" and the app shows a 4-digit PIN valid for 2 minutes. The new scorer enters the PIN on their device and takes over. The previous scorer automatically drops to view-only. No awkward "here's my phone" moment.

3. WhatsApp scorecard at the end
At match end, the scorer taps "Share Result" and the app generates a complete scorecard image — both innings, over-by-over breakdown, result — ready to share directly to WhatsApp. No screenshots, no typing.

Setting Up a Match

  1. Go to Box Cricket Scorer
  2. Enter Team 1 name, Team 2 name, and total overs
  3. Tap Create Match

You're redirected to your match page. Your edit access is stored in your browser — no account needed. The share link is displayed immediately.

Send the share link to your group chat before the match starts. Everyone can follow along from the first ball.

Scoring an Over

The scoring interface is designed for one-handed use — useful when you're also watching the game.

For each ball, tap the run count (+0, +1, +2, +4, +6) and mark extras or wickets as needed. At the end of each over, the score advances automatically to the next over. No manual "end over" step.

The scoreboard shows:

  • Current score and wickets
  • Current over and ball count
  • Runs scored in each completed over
  • Run rate

End of First Innings

When the first innings overs are complete (or all wickets fall), the app prompts "Start 2nd Innings." Tap it to set the target and begin scoring the chase.

The target is displayed throughout the second innings alongside the required run rate — so everyone watching the share link can see what's needed.

Passing Scoring Duty

Mid-match handover is the most-requested feature in any team sport scorer. Here's how it works:

  1. Current scorer taps Hand Over Scoring
  2. A 4-digit PIN appears — valid for 2 minutes
  3. The new scorer opens the share link on their phone, taps Take Over Scoring, and enters the PIN
  4. Edit access transfers instantly
  5. The previous scorer's view becomes read-only

If no handover happens and the scorer is inactive for 90 seconds, the match creator can reclaim edit access.

Sharing the Final Scorecard

At match end, tap Share Result. The app generates a scorecard image with:

  • Both team names and final scores
  • Over-by-over run breakdown
  • Result line (e.g. "Team A won by 12 runs")
  • QR code linking back to the scorer tool

The image opens your phone's share sheet — tap WhatsApp and send to the group. The QR code means anyone who wants to score their own next match can scan and start immediately.

Match Data and Privacy

Matches are stored temporarily and auto-deleted after 24 hours. No account is required — nothing is linked to your name, email, or phone number. The match data is a single JSON record (runs per over, wicket count) with no personal information.

The share link works for anyone with the URL. If you want the match to stay private, don't share the link.

Box Cricket vs Full Cricket — Why a Separate Scorer

Most cricket scoring apps are built for 50-over or 20-over formats with 11 players, full bowling figures, and match officials. Box cricket is:

  • 4–8 overs per side
  • 6 players per team
  • Played in a net or enclosed space
  • Scored by a player, not an official

The complexity needed is different — you want quick run entry, simple over tracking, and a share link for the group chat. You don't need bowling spells, LBW decisions, or innings declarations.
