NotebookLM works beautifully until the notebook list gets long enough that you remember the idea but not its location.

1. Good notebook names delay the problem but do not remove it.
2. Browser history helps only when you remember when the notebook was opened.
3. Searching saved sources, citations, cards, and prompts gives you a path back.

Cross-notebook search is retrieval. It does not pretend to generate one combined answer across every notebook.

A useful search result should help you reopen the right source, not hide it behind another summary.
