NotebookLM works beautifully until the notebook list gets long enough that you remember the idea but not its location.
- Good notebook names delay the problem but do not remove it.
- Browser history helps only when you remember when the notebook was opened.
- Searching saved sources, citations, cards, and prompts gives you a path back.
Cross-notebook search is retrieval. It does not pretend to generate one combined answer across every notebook.
A useful search result should help you reopen the right source, not hide it behind another summary.
