An AI that argues with itself is now on DEV·TV's Spotlight

Most AI chat tools give you one confident answer. Mandana gives you an argument first.

Mandana, built by KriyagniAI, is the newest project on the Spotlight channel of DEV·TV. Here's what it does, and why I wanted it on the channel.

Five parts, every time

Every Mandana answer follows the same structure:

  1. Lean: the clearest position it can defend
  2. Tension: the strongest point against that position
  3. Take: what still holds up once both sides are weighed
  4. Confidence: Grounded, Inference, Speculative or Unknown
  5. One follow-up question: the one that would move your understanding forward most

The confidence label is the part I like best. Most models sound equally sure whether they're quoting a spec or guessing. Mandana says which it is.

Why it fits a developer channel

As developers, we make calls under uncertainty all the time: which library, which architecture, refactor now or later, ship or wait. A flat answer tends to agree with whatever we already believed. A tool that puts the strongest objection in front of you before you commit catches blind spots early.

Some ways to use it:

  • Stress-test a design decision before the review meeting
  • Prepare for the pushback a proposal will get
  • Argue against your own opinion as hard as for it

The name

Mandana Mishra was an 8th-century scholar in the Advaita tradition, remembered for dialectical debate: holding opposing positions at full strength until you find what survives both. The product is built on that same idea.

What's DEV·TV?

DEV·TV is a free, open-source, TV-style browser app for developer content. It runs as a single HTML file on GitHub Pages, with no backend and no sign-up. It has channels for GitHub trending, Hacker News, new AI models, agent skills and more.

Spotlight is the channel for community projects. Mandana joins Montage, Ponytail, is-kit, CogZ and Astratide in the rotation.
