What If the Developer Internet Had a TV? 📺
The developer internet moves constantly.
New projects appear.
AI models are released.
Frameworks change.
Security issues surface.
Research gets published.
There is no shortage of information.
The problem is how we encounter it.
Most of the time, we have to go looking.
I want to try something different.
📺 What if the developer internet could simply be on?
That's the idea behind DEV·TV.
Instead of another dashboard that requires constant attention, DEV·TV is designed to work more like television.
You open it.
You leave it running.
It keeps showing what's happening across the developer ecosystem.
You can keep working, and occasionally something catches your eye.
That's the experience I'm building toward.
👀 From searching to noticing
The web is very good at finding information when you know what you're looking for.
Discovery is different.
You may not know a project exists.
You may not know a new model was released.
You may not know what is worth searching for.
A TV doesn't require you to arrive with a question.
It simply shows you what's on.
DEV·TV applies that idea to the developer internet.
🖥️ A screen that stays in the background
The intended use is simple:
Put DEV·TV on a monitor, a second screen, or a TV in an office.
Then carry on working.
Coding.
Reading.
Building.
The broadcast continues.
Most of it can pass by unnoticed.
But occasionally:
Something makes you look up.
That's the interaction I care about.
🌐 The content already exists
DEV·TV isn't trying to create another huge database of developer information.
The material already exists across places like GitHub, Hacker News, DEV, Hugging Face, security feeds, research and release channels.
The idea is to bring those streams together into something you can watch rather than constantly search.
🔭 Where this could go
The current version is only the beginning.
I want to explore channels for:
- 🤖 AI and machine learning
- 💻 Open source
- 🔐 Security
- 🧰 Developer tools
- 🚀 Releases
- 📚 Research
- 🎥 Developer videos
- 🌟 Community projects
The goal isn't to show everything.
It's to make interesting things visible.
🧭 The experiment
I don't know yet how far this idea can go.
That's why I'm building it.
I want to find out whether developers will actually leave it running, whether something on the screen will make them stop and look, and whether the developer internet can become something we watch as well as search.
Not another dashboard.
Not another notification stream.
A broadcast.
Something you can leave running while you work.
And every once in a while:
“What's that?”
That's the moment I'm building for.
