The ADHD Productivity Stack That Neurotypical Advice Gets Wrong

The ADHD Productivity Stack That Neurotypical Advice Gets Wrong

Most productivity advice is designed for brains that produce dopamine normally. For ADHD brains, it's like giving a fish instructions for climbing a tree.

Why "Just Use a Planner" Doesn't Work

1. They Rely on Internal Motivation

"Just focus" isn't advice. It's wishful thinking when your dopamine system works differently.

2. They Punish Imperfection

Streak tracking? One missed day and the whole system feels ruined. ADHD rejection sensitivity makes this actively harmful.

3. They Ignore Energy Patterns

Time blocking assumes consistent energy. ADHD brains have wildly different energy day-to-day. A rigid schedule is a setup for failure.

What Actually Works

Externalize Everything

Working memory is limited. Write it down. If it's in your brain, it's already lost.

Energy-Based Planning

Plan around your energy peaks, not the clock.

Reward Systems

Build your system around small, immediate rewards. Guilt doesn't motivate ADHD brains.

Ready-Made Tools

I designed these for my own ADHD brain after years of failing with neurotypical planners:

No subscriptions. No apps. Just systems that work the way your brain works.

Built by an ADHD brain, for ADHD brains. Because "just focus" never helped anyone.
