I'd question quite a lot of the claims in this article, which are unsubstantiated opinions at best, but the main thing I'll call out is that .NET is a paid product - it's not. You might want to pay for Visual Studio to develop on, but you don't have to - Visual Studio Code is free and fully cross platform but you can really use any editor and the SDK. You might also want to host your. NET app on Windows Server, which is expensive to license, but again you don't need to with .NET Core and above, which you can run on Linux on any environment you choose. .NET Core and above is also fully open source.
With VS2022 the tooling and overall dev experience is so pleasant on ASP.NET these days.
