Hey everyone. Hope you guys are doing well!

As mention in the last welcome thread, I am waiting to fully introduce myself on "Welcome Thread v400". @javz 4 more weeks to go :D

With that said, welcome everyone to DEV. What brings you here today?

Hi everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Iโ€™m a security-focused engineer and researcher from Japan.

Iโ€™m currently working on incident analysis, defensive security, AI-assisted engineering workflows, and technical documentation. A lot of my work is about turning messy real-world evidence into something reproducible, reviewable, and useful for other practitioners.

Iโ€™ve also started publishing some of that work on DEV and on my site, OSIIX.com.

Recently, Iโ€™ve been writing about topics such as cyber recovery, security engineering, AI workflow reliability, and lessons learned from real incident analysis.

Looking forward to learning from the community and exchanging ideas with people working in security, infrastructure, AI engineering, and reliability.

Nice to meet you all!

Hey everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹ I'm a university student in Hong Kong who got into building small AI tools between classes.

I came to DEV because I wanted to learn how to write about what I build โ€” not just build it. I've been making Python scripts and AI agents that solve specific, boring problems (like personalizing cold emails at scale), and I realized the hardest part isn't the code. It's explaining it.

Right now I'm learning how to package and ship small tools properly, and how to talk about them without sounding like a salesperson. Happy to be here.

Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹ I come from the dark side (marketing), but I come in peace.

15+ years sharing open spaces with developers, and I still don't know why the code freeze always lands the week before my launch. I became a workflow builder by accident, when my SEO pipeline started making its own decisions.

Here to learn, ask the obvious questions early, and return the favor on anything go-to-market.

Hello World

I'm Ronnie (Ronald Gosso), a cloud engineer, full-stack developer, and AI/ML engineer based in Tanzania.

A bit about me

By day I'm Lead Engineer at tech company. I'm also a Computer Science student at Arusha Technical College (ATC). Most of my learning happens by building something, breaking it, and then writing down what I figured out.

My background is fairly wide:

  • Mobile: Flutter, React Native, and native Android (Kotlin)
  • Backend: Node.js, Python (FastAPI), and PHP
  • Cloud and DevOps: deploying, containerizing, and keeping things running
  • Security: OWASP, SAST/SCA, and a habit of asking "how would someone abuse this?"
  • AI/ML: wiring LLMs and OCR into real products

Things I've built (opensourced)

  • ๐ŸŽฌ ClipFlow is an MIT-licensed Python library and CLI for video clipping. It manages FFmpeg for you, defaults to lossless stream-copy, and has zero runtime dependencies.
  • ๐Ÿ“… Kairon is a Flutter timetable manager for ATC students, with OCR-based timetable parsing.
  • ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ RamaPoint is an open-source, offline-first campus mapping tool.
  • ๐Ÿงช ATC SimLab is a browser-based, AI-augmented simulation platform for CS students, built with the CoreFirst Development Team at ATC.
  • ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Sentinel is a security tool for SAST/SCA work.
  • โšฝ Vantage11 is a Fantasy Premier League companion app, because football.

You can find the rest on my GitHub: github.com/ronaldgosso

What I'd like to write about here

  • Lessons from building and shipping open-source tools
  • Practical Flutter and Python patterns
  • Security basics for developers who aren't security people
  • Building software in East Africa: the wins, the constraints, and the creativity that comes from both

What I'm hoping to get from this community

I'd like feedback on my projects, good reading recommendations, and conversations with developers who are working on similar problems. If you work on mobile, backend, cloud, or AI, or just like open source, say hi in the comments.

What are you building right now? Tell me below, I'd love to check it out.

Thanks for reading, and see you around!

Ronald

Hi everyone! I'm Mostafa, a senior Flutter developer from Cairo. I'm a founding engineer and a solopreneur: I build and ship my own apps (TalkFood, a voice calorie tracker, and Qirat, a gold price tracker) and help businesses grow theirs. I'm here to write about what shipping Flutter apps in production actually looks like. Happy to connect with other mobile devs.

Hi everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹

I'm Raza from Pakistan. I'm learning web development by building small, useful web tools.

I recently built a free browser-based image compressor for JPG, PNG, and WebP images. I'm here to learn from other developers, share what I build, and improve my projects through community feedback.

Happy to be part of DEV! ๐Ÿš€

Hey everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Iโ€™m an IT enthusiast from Kenya. I joined this community to learn, build, and connect with people who are exploring technology.

Iโ€™m currently learning more about web development, AI, and cybersecurity. Iโ€™m also interested in building useful products and explaining technology in a simple, practical way.

Fun fact: I can spend hours thinking about a tech idea before writing the first line of code ๐Ÿ˜‚

Looking forward to learning from you all and connecting with other people who enjoy building with technology.
