If you see "Swap Used" rising in your macOS Activity Monitor, your hardware is degrading.

On M-Series MacBooks, the SSD is soldered to the logic board. When Chrome exhausts your Unified Memory (RAM), the Kernel invokes Virtual Memory (Swap). This forces Chrome to write temporary data to your SSD.

This constant I/O churn burns through the TBW (Total Bytes Written) endurance of your drive, permanently shortening the lifespan of your machine. If the SSD dies, the entire MacBook often ends up in e-waste.

Technical Analysis: The Swap Danger

Chrome's multi-process architecture is memory-expensive by design. Each tab spawns a unique V8 instance. On an 8GB or 16GB machine, it is trivial to exceed physical capacity.
