If you have read my previous articles, you must know what are standard objects and custom objects. The question unanswered in the previous article was -

What is the significance of the standard objects and why salesforce bothered to provide those?

We know that Salesforce is a CRM platform and its motive is to help businesses and enterprises form better customer-relationship and manage all data.

Use of Standard Objects

  1. You see, every company has a need to run Campaigns and advertisements.

  2. These ads bring Leads to the company, i.e., Potential Customers.

  3. A number of these potential leads eventually convert into customers. This is where the Account object is needed. To create an account and record of the customers.

  4. Every company wants to have recurring customers, i.e., customers who tend to buy products from the same company multiple times. Here comes the need to assign Contacts and get contacts.

  5. Every customer has unique desires and demands and hence Cases need to be assigned for each requirement.

  6. Now say, company grabbed a client/customer who seems to buy certain amount of product or service. When a Lead converts into Account (Customer), there is certain amount of revenue that company generates. This comes under the Opportunity section.

  7. In certain cases, before the purchase, client requires a quotation. This is handled in Quote section.
