Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality – Difference and is this going to the Reality of our Future?

The market is flooded with these terms and the way it is getting used all over on a day-to-day basis and is ruling the world. Technology is the new tool to solve our problems in the human world.

Augmented Reality -

The technology which we are talking about is already in use, ever wondered what makes you a cute dog on Snapchat filter? Gives you Geo filters and cultural information on your phone at just a touch? Guys, Its Augmented Reality which we see. This makes our reality altered and enhanced but after a lot of hard work; allowing people to add digital world in their physical environment.

Those Snapchat/Instagram filters? Yeah, that’s Augmented Reality. Pokémon go? Totally Augmented Reality. Oculus Rift? Hey, no that’s Virtual Reality and we will get to that later.

AR has evolved at a rapid pace getting used in lots of other purposes of commercial need and individual needs. The rising investments in AR market and increasing demands from retail, healthcare and entertainment sectors are the main drivers here.

Google has made its own Google Glass – wearable AR device that gets you digital information by just nodding your head. Snapchat also added Geofilter after few months that adds graphic locations to our pictures. With introducing Lenses – 187 million people used Snapchat daily according to 2017 report. AR doesn’t end there, it is a popular technology that multiple social networks, businesses, and retailers use this tech. There’s a lot more out there.

IKEA App- The furniture brand which launched AR to give buyers an idea of how a shelf or table would look at a certain place. This helps for people who trying to work out with small spaces, or match the colour combination of the room to their motifs.

Did you know? NASA used an augmented reality dashboard for navigation of X-38. Astronaut, Scott Kelly, used this dashboard to report back to mission control from space.

Virtual Reality –

You will probably go to mars, swim with dolphins, or at the top of Mt. Everest. Virtual Reality will help you on the next universe because of the computing that has been created to give you Goosebumps. However, Virtual Reality is a technology where you can move around, look everywhere and in every direction to make you feel as if you were psychically present there.

It is computer technology to create a stimulated environment, placing the user inside the experience to a whole new world. It stimulates senses of the users, like hearing, vision, touch or sometimes even smell. Isn’t that cool? This could be artificial or any real photographed place to give you an out-of-the-world experience.

According to VR statistics 2019, VR markets was valued at $5.1 billion in 2017. Other than games and entertainment VR industry is taking part in health care field like to treat depression, anxiety, autism, and even nicotine addiction. That’s too much of awesomeness for the VR industry! Spending on location-based VR is expected to account for an additional $700 million. The total spending on VR apps and location-based VR is expected to rise from $2.54 billion in 2019 to $3.77 billion in 2021.

As of the end of 2018, the three bestselling Virtual Reality headsets were Sony’s PlayStation VR (PSVR), Facebook’s Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, and the HTC Vive.

Virtual Reality has many types and many uses for both entertainment and serious uses. This technology is becoming very cheap, widespread and common. We can also expect to watch out for many innovative and interesting uses of this in the near future. Thanks to Virtual Reality.

Conclusion –

VR and AR accomplish two different things in two very different ways. We believe that these are two very powerful industries that are yet to make a huge remark with consumers. We also think that new developer programs in these industries can take place and there’s no telling how popular this technology could be.
