Best SERP APIs Compared: 1,009-Query Benchmark

SERP APIs are often evaluated by price, latency, or the number of search engines they support. But for real production use, those are only part of the story.

If a SERP API returns fewer organic results, misses dates or snippets, fails to parse AI Overview, or produces unstable Top-1 rankings, the downstream impact can be significant. SEO rank tracking becomes noisy, AI/RAG systems lose useful context, and monitoring workflows may miss important pages.

That is why this benchmark looks beyond basic availability. Based on 1,009 identical-parameter queries, this article compares six SERP API providers across result completeness, URL consistency, field coverage, SERP feature parsing, and AI-oriented signals.

Data source: Talordata SERP 6-Platform Data Quality Comparison

Platforms compared: Talordata, Serpapi, Bright Data, Oxylabs, bd_fast, Serper.

1. Overall Ranking

Rank Platform Overall Score Majority Alignment SERP Feature Coverage Positioning
1 Talordata 79.19 77.20% 36.20% Balanced overall performance
2 Serpapi 78.06 75.01% 36.70% Strong AI Overview and PAA coverage
3 Bright Data 77.80 78.43% 28.60% Stable result quality and rich fields
4 Oxylabs 69.83 80.72% 5.40% Strong precision / recall
5 bd_fast 61.85 77.88% 0% Basic organic source
6 Serper 54.45 66.52% 2.40% Lightweight fallback

The top three platforms are very close: Talordata scores 79.19, serpapi 78.06, and Bright Data 77.80, with only 1.39 points separating them.

serper returns an average of only 6.88 organic results per query, 22.3% fewer than Talordata. Its zero-result rate is 12.59%, which is 10.51 percentage points higher than Talordata.

2. Result Completeness

Platform Rows Avg Results / Query Zero-Result Rate
Talordata 8,931 8.85 2.08%
Serpapi 8,908 8.83 2.28%
Bright Data 8,867 8.79 2.38%
Oxylabs 8,729 8.65 1.29%
bd_fast 8,761 8.68 9.51%
Serper 6,942 6.88 12.59%

Talordata returns the largest number of organic rows: 8,931. serper returns only 6,942, which is 1,989 fewer rows.

Oxylabs has the lowest zero-result rate at 1.29%. bd_fast has a decent average result count of 8.68, but its zero-result rate is 9.51%, suggesting that it fails outright on a noticeable portion of queries.

3. Core Field Completeness

The following field completeness metrics are calculated at the organic-row level.

Platform title link snippet position
Talordata 100% 100% 99.97% 100%
Serper 100% 100% 99.97% 100%
Serpapi 100% 100% 99.96% 100%
Bright Data 100% 100% 99.19% 100%
bd_fast 100% 100% 99.99% 100%
Oxylabs 100% 100% 100% 100%

All six platforms perform strongly on core organic fields. title, link, and position are essentially 100% complete, and snippet is above 99% for all platforms.

This means the core organic result payload is usable across all six providers. The bigger differences appear in enriched fields and SERP features.

4. Enriched Field Completeness

The following metrics are also calculated at the organic-row level.

Platform source display_link date favicon snippet_highlighted image sitelinks rating
Talordata 100% 100% 36.19% 92.16% 97.30% 12.12% 2.46% 0.83%
Serpapi 100% 100% 28.32% 92.30% 95.04% 0.21% 2.37% 0.94%
Bright Data 100% 100% 29.19% 92.11% 94.52% 13.94% 0.52% 1.26%
Serper 0% 0% 44.97% 0% 0% 0% 2.23% 0.69%
bd_fast 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% 0%
Oxylabs 0% 100% 0% 100% 0% 13.62% 0.49% 0.27%

Talordata, serpapi, and Bright Data have strong coverage for source, display_link, favicon, and snippet_highlighted.

For the date field, serper leads at 44.97%, followed by Talordata at 36.19%. Bright Data and serpapi are at 29.19% and 28.32%, respectively.

For image fields, Bright Data is at 13.94%, Oxylabs at 13.62%, and Talordata at 12.12%.

bd_fast has almost no enriched fields, making it better suited as a basic organic result source rather than a rich structured SERP source.

The following query-level metrics show the percentage of the 1,009 queries where each platform parsed a given SERP feature.

Platform AI Overview PAA Related Images Videos Knowledge Graph Answer Box Pagination
Serpapi 69.4% 64.0% 43.0% 17.9% 8.5% 2.3% 1.0% 87.3%

7. Precision / Recall / F1

Platform Precision Recall F1
Oxylabs 80.72% 94.32% 86.99
Bright Data 78.43% 92.90% 85.05
Talordata 77.20% 92.11% 84.00

Bright Data, Talordata, and bd_fast are close, with F1 scores of 85.05, 84.00, and 83.88.

serper is significantly lower, with an F1 score of 63.84.

8. Cross-Platform Consistency

The table below shows each platform’s average consistency against the other five providers.

Platform Avg Top-1 vs Others Avg URL Jaccard vs Others
Oxylabs 74.02% 64.22%
Bright Data 72.06% 62.90%
Talordata 71.94% 62.10%

Serpapi 69.38% 60.80%
Serper 54.66% 43.82%

Oxylabs has the highest average Top-1 consistency and URL Jaccard. Serper is clearly lower on both metrics, indicating that its returned results diverge more from the rest of the group.

9. Query Type Impact on Consistency

Query Type N Avg URL Jaccard Avg Top-1
Chinese plain queries 113 54.77% 62.98%
English + quotes 620 56.60% 70.21%
English plain queries 60 59.06% 67.13%
Chinese + quotes 177 66.99% 70.21%
site: operator 39 70.28% 87.50%

site: operator queries have the highest consistency, with an average Top-1 hit rate of 87.50% and URL Jaccard of 70.28%.

Chinese plain queries have the lowest consistency, with URL Jaccard at 54.77% and Top-1 at 62.98%.

This indicates that query type has a clear impact on SERP API comparison results. More specific queries with smaller candidate sets tend to produce higher agreement, while broad plain queries are more volatile.

For consistency, Bright Data, Oxylabs, and Talordata show stronger URL Jaccard and Top-1 alignment, while serper has noticeably lower overlap with other platforms.

SERP API selection should not rely on average result count alone. SEO use cases should prioritize Top-1 consistency and position data; AI/RAG use cases should prioritize AI Overview, PAA, Related, and snippet quality; data engineering workflows should prioritize field completeness and schema stability.
