Social media in Vietnam does not look like social media anywhere else. With roughly 70 million active Facebook users and 45 million Zalo users, a shop that ignores either platform is invisible to a large slice of its customers - and a typical Vietnamese small business has exactly one person handling all of it, usually alongside three other jobs.
That is the real problem these tools solve: not "posting", but keeping a queue running when the person who runs it is also answering the phone.
I compared the five options that actually make sense for Vietnamese businesses in 2026 and wrote down what each plan costs, where Zalo breaks, and which one to pick at each team size.

Hootsuite covers 35+ social networks and integrates with more than 150 apps, which is why it still shows up in every comparison - and why the Professional plan at $99/month is hard to justify for a two-person shop. Its free tier disappeared in 2025.
Buffer is the opposite bet: a free tier with 3 social accounts and 10 scheduled posts, Essentials at $15/month for 8 accounts, and Team at $30/month once you need collaboration. Simple, cheap, and completely blind to Zalo.
Later is built for visual content - Instagram and TikTok first. Free covers 1 account per platform, Starter is $18/month for 3, Growth is $30/month for 6.
Sprout Social starts at $249/month for 5 accounts and reaches $399/month on Advanced. It is the right answer for agencies that need social listening and approval workflows, and overkill for everyone else.
Local platforms (KiotViet, Sapo, Nhanh.vn and similar) are the only group with native Zalo and Facebook integration. Most offer a free basic plan, with premium features from around 500,000 VND per month - roughly $20.
Zalo is the deciding factor, not the feature list
This is the part that international comparison posts skip. Buffer, Later and Sprout Social do not support Zalo at all. Hootsuite reaches it only through third-party plugins. If your customers message you on Zalo, the tool that schedules your Facebook posts cannot be the only tool you buy.
The practical setup for most Vietnamese businesses is therefore two tools, not one: a local platform for Zalo and Facebook, plus Buffer or Hootsuite for everything else.
Choosing by team size and budget
- Solo owner, testing the waters - start on a free tier. Buffer's free plan is generous enough to prove whether you will actually keep posting.
- One person covering Zalo and Facebook - a local platform at about 500,000 VND per month is usually enough.
- A small team scheduling around 8 accounts - budget $15-$30 per month (Buffer Essentials or Team).
- A marketing team on 10 or more accounts - budget $99-$249 per month, which is where Hootsuite starts to make sense.
- An agency - Sprout Social from $249 per month.
Two rules matter more than any feature comparison. First, count accounts and people, not features - a tool with 35 integrations you never open is a subscription, not a solution. Second, budget for the tool that answers customers, not only for the tool that posts on schedule.
The mistake most teams make
Leaving the whole stack on one laptop.
Scheduling queues, chatbot flows and media libraries need to run around the clock. When they live on the machine somebody closes at 6pm, posts go out late, chatbot replies stop, and the analytics report nobody reads is the least of it. Teams that post seriously move that stack to an always-on server and stop worrying about it.
