Ren

I know there's lot of tools that will make your files more organized while keeping the context, but I wanna create mine.
Most personal knowledge tools turn you into a full-time librarian. You spend hours tagging, linking, and color-coding folders—only to never look at them again, or worse, get a hallucinated AI answer when you finally try to search for something.
So, I built Ren.
Ren is built around one unbreakable product rule: Never make me organize anything.
Instead of a static filing cabinet, it treats your knowledge as a continuous loop. You just drop your raw PDFs, Markdown notes, or text files into an inbox, and Ren handles the heavy lifting:
Zero friction: It automatically chunks and extracts key definitions into atomic knowledge cards.
Effortless retention: A built-in spaced-repetition queue surfaces due cards so you actually remember what you save.
Grounded chat: When you ask a question, it runs a local 2-stage hybrid search that gives you strict inline citations ([S1], [S2]) and outright refuses to guess if your library lacks the evidence.
The best part? It runs 100% locally on your CPU. No cloud APIs, no heavy external vector databases, no GPU required, and zero privacy compromise—everything stays right on your machine.
The Update: It’s not fully polished or ready for a public open-source launch just yet. Because of other commitments, I’m actually going to be pausing development on it for a little while.
Definitely planning to pick it back up down the road to finish the rest!
