Anthropic just rolled out Claude Fable 5, the newest member of the Claude 5 family — and yes, the "Fable" line is back.
Full disclosure: I haven't put it through its paces yet, so this isn't a benchmark post. It's a "here's what I'm about to test" note — and an invitation to compare first impressions.
What I want to test first
- Coding & agents — how it holds up on multi-step, tool-heavy workflows.
- Long-context reasoning — the tasks where earlier models start to drift.
- Latency vs. quality — where it lands next to the rest of the Claude 5 lineup.
Why I'm curious
A dedicated "Fable" tier coming back suggests Anthropic is leaning into model choice by use-case again. If it turns out to be both fast and sharp, it could quietly become a default for a lot of automation work.
I'll follow up once I've actually shipped something real with it. If you've already tried Fable 5, drop your first impressions below — especially for coding and agent use.
