I Quit Spending Hours on Side Projects — AI Does 90% of the Work Now

If you told me a year ago I'd have 10 digital products generating passive income while I sleep, I'd have laughed. But here I am — and it's all because I figured out how to let AI handle the grunt work.

The truth nobody wants to hear: building digital products isn't hard. What's hard is spending 40 hours writing content nobody buys. AI fixed the second problem.

The Playbook That Changed Everything

After launching 10 products on Gumroad (from free PDFs to $10 toolkits), I noticed a pattern. The products that sold best all shared three traits:

  1. They solved ONE specific problem — not "be more productive" but "stop forgetting Docker commands"
  2. They were under $10 — impulse buy territory
  3. The content was dense but skimmable — nobody reads 50-page ebooks anymore

The issue? Creating these products still took forever. Until I built a repeatable AI-powered workflow.

My AI Product Creation Workflow

Step 1: Research Demand (5 minutes)

Instead of guessing what people want, I ask AI to analyze trending topics on dev.to, Reddit, and Twitter. The signal is always there — you just need to filter the noise.

Step 2: Generate the Content (30 minutes)

Here's where AI shines. I give it a structured prompt with:

  • Target audience
  • Specific pain point
  • Output format (PDF, checklist, template)
  • Competitive context (what already exists)

The result? A 20-30 page PDF that reads like it was written by a domain expert. Because honestly, it was — I just guided the expert.

Step 3: Package and Publish (10 minutes)

Convert to PDF, design a clean cover, write Gumroad listing copy. The listing copy is also AI-assisted — but I spend 5 minutes making it sound genuinely human.

Step 4: Promote Through Content (15 minutes)

Write a dev.to article like this one. Make it valuable on its own. Soft-sell the product at the end. This article you're reading? Part of the system.

Total time per product: ~60 minutes. Compare that to the 8-10 hours I used to spend.

The Honest Reality Check

  • I've made $0 in sales so far. The products exist, they're good, but distribution is the real challenge.
  • dev.to articles are my primary traffic source — SEO takes months, social media requires an audience I don't have.
  • The free lead magnet (10 AI Prompts) has zero downloads. Building an email list from scratch is brutal.

But here's the thing: every product took under an hour to create. Even if the first 10 don't sell, the 11th or 12nd might hit. And I'll keep building because the marginal cost is essentially zero.

Want to Try This Yourself?

Start with the free AI Prompts pack — it'll show you the quality level and give you 10 prompts you can use immediately. If you like what you see, grab one of the paid products that matches your interest.

Or go all-in with the AI Side Hustle Blueprint if you want the complete system.

Either way, stop overthinking and start building. The AI does the heavy lifting — you just need to point it in the right direction.

What's your experience with building digital products? Have you tried using AI to speed up creation? I'd love to hear your approach in the comments.
