You probably know by now that you can have Linux-powered App services.
But, have you ever wonder what Linux distribution is powering that App Service?
Looking at the Environment section of the Kudu console won't help:
Well, wonder no more! Simply open a WebSSH terminal:
And type this command:
cat /etc/os-release
And you'll get the requested information:
Easy, right? ;)
In conclusion...
Today, we have lifted the veil on some part of the magic that powers the Azure App Service for Linux offering which is what version of Linux this service is running on.
