The Best Emulators for Playing Retro Games on PC & Mac

In this article, I will try to cover the most important information about the most popular emulators which are mainly used for Retro Gaming.

What is an Emulator?

Emulator is hardware or software that is mainly used to change the default behavior of one computer to another. For example, with this great piece of software, you will be able to make your Windows OS acts like Android and therefore, you will be able to install Android Games or programs without the need of any Android Device. Sounds great right? Well, that's the definition of it. In the next following sections, I will explain which are the most used retro gaming emulators nowadays.

Why use Emulator?

Since this post is mainly focused on retro gaming you need to know that in order to play any old games you must emulate your device to act like another one.

Furthermore, below is the list of the top 3 emulators which are used for retro gaming.

1.Dolphin

Dolphin is the best free GameCube and Wii Emulator and there is no doubt about that. It was developed by the Dolphin Emulator Project company almost 17 years ago. This emulator can be installed on the most popular platforms such as Windows, macOS, Linux and Android. You can use this software to emulate almost every single game or program.

2.DeSmuME

DeSmuME is one of those popular emulators mainly for DS Games. It is available for Windows, Linux and Android. Like most of the other widely used emulators, this one is also classified as open-source. Further, you can get some legal homebrew games to play which are non-copyrighted from the ROM packs website. However, do not expect any high-quality graphic details since these games are old and mostly developed by amateurs. Also, you must avoid the usage of any illegal ROM download websites since you might get into legal trouble or you can fill your device with unwanted software.

3.Kega Fusion

Kega Fusion is the best Sega Genesis Emulator which is compatible with Windows, macOS and Linux. A great alternative for this one is Genesis Plus. The latest stable release of this emulator was 11 years ago and this amazing emulator was developed by Steve Snake.

This is my own list of the top 3 must-use emulators. I hope some retro gamers will find this article useful.
