Who is a Solutions Architect?

A solutions Architect Develops ,improve and determine technical Solutions so that an organization can achieve their technical goals. A solutions Architect bridge the gap between IT and operations, making sure everyone is on the same page when developing and Implementing technical Solutions.

A solutions Architect is a determinant of how IT (Information Technology) can help and push an organizations needs through infrastructure, hardware's and software.

The Basic Skills of a Solutions Architect

Here are some of the basic must – have skills of a Solutions Architect;

  1. Leadership _– You must have a strong leadership skill, that is you can lead and also work with a team.
  2. Problem Solving – This is one of the foremost skill, the ability to see a problem and find the appropriate technical solution is essential.
  3. Business Knowledge – Having a great knowledge of the business and organization you work with will help in providing the right technical solutions.
  4. Technical Knowledge – A vast Knowledge of Network Administration , a cloud Provider like AWS, Data Management and Big Data Analytics. Then a knowledge and experience with IT architecture Frameworks. 5.Infrastructure Knowledge - A Vast knowledge of IT security, Infrastructure and governance.

Duties of a Solutions Architect

A solutions Architect;

  • Identifies framework, platform or stack that can be used to solve a technical problem.
  • Build and migrate software and services
  • Determines how IT can help and push an organizations goals
  • Collaborate with different units to develop IT strategies, infrastructure also hardware's and software.
  • Consult with Clients and Stakeholders to determine the appropriate technical solutions.

How to get started in becoming a solutions Architect

  • This is not necessary but having a degree in IT, computer science or Software engineering gives a great overview of various software systems and hardware Compatibility Training.
  • Building your skills comes from your experience of working in a tech organization. It is necessary to have a work experience by volunteering, Internships or a full time Job.
  • Certifications is necessary, this will definitely get you interviews and eventually the role.
