Changing the Work/Study Environment

Where do you prefer to study/work when you aren't in classes/in the office?

As comfortable as it has been being productive in the comforts of our own homes during the pandemic while everything is remote, a change of scenery is welcomed to give us a breath of fresh air, get creative juices flowing, uplift our moods, etc. For some, the house is not ideal for getting work done. So, what are the other options?

A friendly home

Whether it's a family member, coworker, or friend nearby, a home with a firm dining room table and some home cooked food could be the inspiration you need to pull those long hours. You would also be able to work alongside some overdue company.

Coffee shops

Do you love the smell of freshly brewed coffee each morning? Why not go somewhere that the scent fills the rooms all day? As long as you do not mind the crowds going in and out during busier hours, you could get some great work done with your favorite beverage in your hand. Note: some noise-cancelling earphones can help with the noise

An empty classroom

Stuck at school? There's likely an empty classroom nearby that isn't being used between classes. It's a great place to study in peace, charge your devices, or simply eat lunch and relax for a minute.

Tutoring/Study Centers

Another place to study on campus would be at various study centers. There is likely to be one specific to your department and one for general usage. If you need help with your materials, you can look up the hours for the services provided at your location.

The library

Ahh, yes. The peace and quiet inside the library walls. It's the perfect place to study in silence if you prefer a quiet space to concentrate. With books on various materials inches away, you have unlimited knowledge in the palm of your hand.

Bookstores

Everyone in the store is typically reading, educating themselves, and learning something new. Bookstores are very suitable for studying and focusing since they are reasonably quiet. It's the mid-point of noise level between coffee shops and libraries.

The park

While some like being indoors, studying outdoors is always an option. Just remember, you probably won't have somewhere to charge your devices available so go prepared. Studying at a park table, bench, or picnic area can boost your mood and inspire creativity. Being in nature may calm your mind and help you relax from the stresses during the week as well.

Conclusion

There are many places you can get your work done outside of your workstation at home. A change of pace might be exactly what you need to lighten your mood, help you with burnout, give you a breather, and more!

Where is your favorite place to be proactively productive? I've been loving the library atmosphere these days.

Happy coding!
