Auditing iPhone claims for an Android APK: what 6 Portuguese guides actually say

I run TomateAnimes, an independent information project in Brazilian Portuguese about Tomato Animes. I am not the developer of the app, not an official source, and not a distributor. This article summarises an audit published on that site, with the full table and sources there.

The technical point is simple, and it is the only point the audit makes: an APK is an Android package. It cannot be installed directly on an iPhone. iOS does not run APKs.

The audit checked 6 pages in Portuguese that discuss Tomato Animes for iPhone, on 26 October 2026. The auditor site itself was excluded from the sample. Each page was judged only on what it observably says, not on motive, and findings were not generalised beyond those 6 pages.

The final counts are:

  • EXPLICIT DIRECT APK-INSTALL PROMISE = 0 of 6
  • RAISES THE APK-INSTALL QUESTION = 3 of 6 (rows 1-3)
  • NO DIRECT APK-INSTALL PROMISE FOUND = 3 of 6 (rows 4-6)

What "raises the question" means, in the audit's wording:

  • Row 1: iPhone availability presented through an iOS requirements table and third-party-store route; a distinct iOS build was not established.
  • Row 2: contradictory wording — one part says the APK cannot be installed directly on iPhone/iPad, another part suggests a different installation process.
  • Row 3: a compatibility claim only, with no distinct iOS build or install method established.

The other 3 pages did not make a direct APK-install promise. They described Android-first distribution, a mobile site, or a PWA/Safari shortcut, or they were a store listing title only, not determined to be the same app.

One page that could not be verified in that round is shown in the audit as UNVERIFIED, not counted in the 6.

The lesson is about reading claims carefully: a requirements table, a compatibility sentence, or a store title is not the same as an established iOS build. And a matching display name is not the same as the same app.

No download is offered here, and no install steps are given. This is a reading of published claims, not a guide to installing anything on an iPhone.
