✂️ Why hair is hard: masking vs matting
Every background remover is easy on a mug and hard on a person, and there's a precise reason.
Masking asks a binary question per pixel: foreground or background? That works perfectly when the boundary is a hard edge — a phone, a bottle, a shoe.
Matting asks how much foreground is in this pixel — an alpha value between 0 and 1. Real edges are not binary:

A single strand of hair thinner than a pixel means that pixel is maybe 40% hair. Force it to a yes/no answer and you get either a chewed outline or a halo of old background colour.
