Funding news is usually noise for software buyers. This one isn't.
HiBob raised $166M led by Salesforce at a $3.2B valuation, and is repositioning from "HR platform" to "the organizational intelligence layer that AI agents read." The pitch: your HR system holds the permission map — who reports to whom, who can approve what — and that map is what enterprise agents need to act.
Two numbers matter more than the valuation:
- It's an 8x revenue multiple, not 30x. Annualized revenue crossed $400M. That's a SaaS company valued on revenue, not on a story — rare in 2026.
- Seats are the pricing unit, and AI is compressing headcount growth. Per-seat contracts signed now sit on top of real uncertainty about team size in 2028.
If you're buying an HRIS this year, the demo questions change. The five I'd ask: how accurate is the org chart (a stale reporting line becomes a security problem if agents make permission decisions from it), what does the API expose, which integrations are native vs middleware, what's the acquisition/deprecation policy, and how does pricing behave if headcount drops.
