Show DEV: ToolsMonk — 250+ Free Online Tools That Run on Your Device

Hey devs! I want to show you ToolsMonk — a free suite of 250+ online tools built around one core principle: your files are processed on your device whenever technically possible.

What's inside

  • PDF tools — edit, merge, split, compress, sign, OCR, and convert to/from Word / Excel / PowerPoint
  • Image tools — resize, convert, rotate, background remover, photo editor
  • Text & developer tools — JSON/CSV converters, regex tester, JWT decoder, markdown tools
  • SEO tools — keyword density checker, SERP snippet generator, meta tag tools
  • Calculators & converters — loan/EMI, depreciation, fuel economy, cooking conversions
  • AI helpers — AI PDF summarizer and AI text humanizer (the few tools that need a server are openly listed at toolsmonk.com/where-your-files-are-processed)

Why "on-device" matters

Most tools run 100% in the browser — no uploads, no account, no file-size anxiety. Privacy by architecture, not by policy. Merge a 200-page contract PDF and the bytes never leave your machine.

Three ways to use it

Stack notes for the curious: Next.js (App Router) on the web, Electron for desktop, Flutter for Android. One codebase philosophy per platform, shared tool logic where it makes sense.

Feedback wanted

If you get a chance to try it, I'd genuinely love feedback:

  1. Which tools do you actually reach for in your daily work?
  2. What's missing from your current toolkit that you wish existed as a no-signup web tool?

Thanks for reading! 🙏

Listing the server-backed exceptions is useful. I'd test the boundary inside the workflow too: open a synthetic PDF in a local tool, then switch to AI summarization. Before any upload, show that processing is changing from on-device to a server and require a fresh choice, rather than carrying the file across automatically. Repeat offline and after an error to make sure a failed local operation doesn't silently fall back to upload. Is that processing-location notice shown per operation, or only on the overview page?

Thanks for pointing this out! This is a valuable test case. We’ll verify that the processing-location notice appears at the point of each operation whenever processing switches from on-device to server-side, and that explicit user consent is required before any upload. We’ll also test offline scenarios and failed local operations to ensure there’s no silent fallback to server processing. Your feedback helps us strengthen both transparency and user privacy.
