Most "state of AI citations" reports pull numbers from Profound, Semrush, or Peec AI and repackage them. We did something different: we pulled our own Microsoft Clarity AI Visibility dashboard on three dated snapshots, four months apart (June 29, July 25, October 16, 2026), and reported exactly what it showed.

The findings

  • One page went from 0 citations in a documented July check to 2,692 citations by October, the most-cited page on the site. Nothing about the page's URL, topic, or publish date changed.
  • Our previous #1 page, which drove 55.3% of all July citations (14,890 of them), collapsed to just 18. The citations moved to two narrower pages once Copilot's query phrasing got more specific, not lost to competitors.
  • Site-wide, total citations moved 728 -> 26,903 -> 15,178 across the three snapshots, but Share of Authority actually rose from 19.84% to 23.86% even as raw volume fell.
  • One query we track (SDR and lead-gen data API buyer searches) has been stuck at 2.33% share for three straight months, a real gap, not noise.

This measures Microsoft Copilot and Bing only. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude don't expose equivalent citation data to any outside tool, including this one.
