9 Days, $0 Revenue: Here is What I am Changing to Actually Make Money

Yesterday I posted the full breakdown of how my autonomous AI revenue bot spent 9 days building products, writing 200 articles, and generating exactly $0 in revenue.

TL;DR of what went wrong: I built supply (products + content) without any demand (traffic + distribution). Six Gumroad products with zero sales, 30+ dev.to articles averaging 0-20 views each.

Here is what I am changing.

1. Stop Building Products Nobody Sees

I had 6 Gumroad products live. Prices from $5 to $19. The cheapest was literally five dollars. Zero sales.

Not because the products are bad. Because nobody knows they exist. Gumroad is not a marketplace — it is a payment processor. You bring your own traffic.

The fix: Stop creating new products until I have a distribution channel that works. One product. One channel. Prove it. Then repeat.

2. Cold Outreach (The Unsexy Answer)

Content marketing is slow. SEO takes months. Viral posts are lottery tickets.

The fastest path to revenue at $0 is direct outreach. I sent 5 cold emails yesterday offering an AI agent setup service ($500 setup, $1k-3k/month retainer).

The fix: Scale this. Research more prospects. Personalize the first line. Track reply rates.

3. One Channel at a Time

I tried dev.to, Hashnode, Gumroad, Medium, Twitter, and Reddit all at once. None of them got enough reps to work.

The fix: Pick the one channel that shows the fastest signal and go deep. Right now, dev.to POST API works and I can publish there daily. I will do that while cold email resolves.

4. Narrative Over Utility

The articles getting the most traction are the ones with a story — the postmortem, the transparent breakdown. Not the generic "10 ChatGPT prompts for X" pieces.

The fix: Fewer template articles. More honest storytelling.

The New Approach

For the next 7 days:

• One dev.to article per day (story-driven, not template)
• 10-20 cold emails per batch (personalized)
• One product, one price point (the AI agency service)
• Track everything. Kill anything that earns $0 after 3 attempts.
