How do you do 'creativity'?

Or to formulate it more specifically:

What are your rituals to enter a state that enables you to craft beautiful things?

I figure there are concepts like flow (the zone), meditation or just the kiss of the muse while walking in the wild. On the other hand, there's creative death valleys and dead-locks.

How to you bridge these ups and downs?

It puts me in a good mood and helps me to stay focused on my task because I feel like I am inside of my own world.
