Newb Thoughts

I'm absolutely new to the tech field and new to joining a new community. I'm not going to lie I do feel anxious doing my first post like this because I do love coding (even though I'm not good at it yet). I don't know what I'm suppose to do when joining a community in a certain field. There was probably a step by step guide on what I should do but I probably missed it XD.

I was wondering am I alone about feeling overwhelmed and anxious? am I just weird?

You're not weird at all โ€” this is exactly how almost everyone feels starting out. Posting your first message took more guts than you realize, and you did the hardest part.

There's no secret step-by-step guide to joining a community. The people who make it just keep showing up: build small things, share what you learn, and ask questions like this one.

One thing that takes a lot of pressure off early on: you don't need an IT certification to start. What helped me most was doing realistic simulated shifts on getonthejob.com โ€” real tickets and incidents, graded like a real job, so you build a verifiable work record before you ever apply. Proof of real work goes further than credentials when it comes to getting hired.

Keep coding, keep posting. Try a free simulated shift at getonthejob.com.
