Why a Java Backend Developer Is Building a 6G + AI Dashboard (and Fixing Bugs in NVIDIA Sionna)

Most of my posts so far were about Java libraries. This one is about a different side of my work: a 6G project, and why a backend developer ended up in wireless research.

Why 6G?

I started my career as a network engineer, so wireless and networks always interested me. Later I moved into Java backend work at Wipro. I wanted a project that joins both sides: serious backend engineering on top of real telecom research.

That project is Sionna Visualizer.

The problem

NVIDIA Sionna is an open source library for simulating 6G wireless systems. It is powerful, but the usual workflow is to write Python scripts, draw matplotlib charts by hand and email CSV files to share results. There is no simple visual, shareable way to work with the results.

What I built

Sionna Visualizer is a full-stack web dashboard on top of Sionna. You run a simulation from the browser, see interactive charts, export them and share any result with one link.

Some of what it does:

  • Simulations: AWGN bit error rate, beam patterns, channel capacity, path loss and 3GPP channel models (CDL/TDL)
  • A publication pipeline: journal-style figure export, LaTeX parameter tables and a reproducibility package
  • Shareable links for every simulation, and a saved history with run metadata
  • Comparing results from different simulators by uploading CSV files
  • Natural language simulation: you describe a run in plain English, the Claude API turns it into parameters, and the app runs it

How it is built
