The Vision Behind Overpowered Studios Game Jam #1
Running a game jam is always exciting, but for our maiden sprint at Overpowered Studios, we wanted to push beyond standard single-player prototypes.
We launched Overpowered Studios Game Jam #1—a 48-hour online sprint challenging indie developers, hobbyists, and students to build functional, networked multiplayer games from scratch.
To make server orchestration seamless, we partnered with Edgegap as our official hosting partner, giving participants direct hands-on experience deploying automated game server containers.

The Official Theme: "No Limits / Anything Goes"
We wanted zero barriers to creative execution. The theme announced at kickoff is "No Limits / Anything Goes", giving teams complete creative freedom regarding genre and visual style:
Any Genre: Shooters, racers, arena party brawlers, sports, tag, or puzzle mechanics.
Any Tech Stack: Teams are currently building using Unreal Engine 5, Godot, Pygame (Python), Node.js WebSockets, and HTML5 canvas engines.
The Core Requirement: Compulsory online multiplayer connectivity deployed live via Edgegap.
Progress & Community Energy
The sprint is currently in full swing! Our Discord community is buzzing with developers collaborating on team rosters, asset integration, and headless server builds.
Seeing developers tackle everything from dedicated socket architectures in Python to headless Linux exports in Godot and UE5 within a 48-hour sprint highlights the depth of indie talent.
Final submissions and deployment verification will wrap up this Sunday at 6:00 PM IST, followed by gameplay reviews and developer feedback reports.
