6 months ago I had never built a SaaS product.
Today ReleasePilot is live, has real users, and is
generating its first revenue.
Here is exactly what I learned.
1. Ship ugly first
My first version had no design system, no proper auth,
and a test database button in the hero section.
I shipped it anyway. Real users found real bugs faster
than I ever could alone.
2. The hardest part is not the code
I spent 3 weeks building features nobody asked for.
Analytics dashboard. international payment integration.
None of it mattered until someone actually used the core product.
Build the one thing that delivers value. Ship it.
Add everything else later.
3. Tier 2 India is not a disadvantage
Sangli is not Bangalore. There is no startup ecosystem here.
No meetups, no co-founders, no investors.
But there is also no distraction. I built every day.
4. AI tools changed everything
I used Claude and ChatGPT throughout the build.
Not to write all the code — but to think through problems
faster, debug errors, and get unstuck in minutes instead of hours.
A solo developer with AI tools can move as fast as a small team.
5. Your first launch will be quiet
I launched on Product Hunt. Got 5 upvotes.
I thought it meant the product was bad.
It meant I had no audience yet. That is a distribution
problem, not a product problem.
Keep building. Keep shipping. The audience comes later.
What I built
ReleasePilot — automatically generates release notes
from GitHub commits after every push.
Free for 1 repo & 7 day free trail pro: https://releasepilot-sigma.vercel.app
dont buy it atleast try it 1st.
If you are building something solo — keep going.
The first launch is never the last.
