Database Designer – No-Code PostgreSQL Database Builder
This is a submission for the DEV's Worldwide Show and Tell Challenge Presented by Mux
What I Built
Database Designer is a standalone desktop application that lets you visually design PostgreSQL databases without writing a single line of code. Drag-and-drop tables, define columns, relationships, indexes, and more – then instantly generate:
- Complete, ready-to-run SQL scripts (schemas, tables, foreign keys, indexes)
- Clean Markdown documentation for your schema
- Entity Framework-compatible C# model classes
Everything runs 100% locally and offline, with built-in post-quantum-resistant encryption for project files via Pariah Cybersecurity v2.
It's fast, intuitive, and built to remove the tedium from database setup so you can focus on building features.
My Pitch Video
(A quick 1-minute demo showing the intuitive interface, schema creation, relationship building, and one-click exports to SQL, docs, and C# models.)

The Story Behind It
Database Designer started as an internal tool at Walker Industries to rapidly prototype and connect databases across ambitious projects like XRUIOS (an XR-focused shell OS) and Project Replicant (local high-functionality AI). Manually writing SQL, updating docs, and generating models was eating hours better spent on innovation.
I wanted a tool that felt easy to use – fast, local, secure, and powerful enough for real production work. What makes it special: full offline operation, post-quantum security, table/project templates for consistency, and zero cloud lock-in (cloud sync coming soon).
It's open-source planned, with a free SDK on the horizon.

Technical Highlights
-
Tech Stack:
- C# /.NET for core logic and cross-platform potential
- Custom UI framework for smooth, responsive drag-and-drop canvas
- Pariah Cybersecurity v2 (open-source library by Walker Industries) integrating NIST-approved post-quantum algorithms (Kyber/CRYSTALS, AES-256) for encrypted local project storage
- One-click exporters for PostgreSQL DDL, Markdown docs, and EF Core-ready C# POCOs
-
Unique Aspects:
- Fully local execution – no internet needed, perfect for secure/air-gapped environments
- Built-in templates for common patterns (users/auth, e-commerce, etc.)
- Future-proof encryption against quantum threats
- Lightweight and performant – runs great even on modest hardware (school laptops included!)
Built over 2025 with a focus on usability, the current version has some rough edges (messy code, minor bugs) but is actively improving.
This tool is already helping devs (and fictional characters 😉) build faster. If you're tired of hand-crafting SQL and docs, give Database Designer a try – feedback welcome! 🚀

This looks like a massive productivity booster! I’m particularly interested in the one-click exporters for PostgreSQL DDL. Being able to visually design a schema and instantly get ready-to-run SQL scripts makes the Prompt-to-Prod pipeline so much smoother. Is there any plan to include support for generating Docker Compose files for the database environment in future releases?
Hello, tyty! I actually plan on supporting docker compose files alongside a custom service for dynamically hosting your own services with CDNs and all under a singular service!
Beyond that, I want to make this into a complete nocode system for APIs and client side development as well!
Thats intriguing, I'm particularly interested in your vision for the complete no-code system. In my studies at Queen Mary, we’re seeing a huge shift toward 'Agentic Workflows' where the developer acts more as an Architect while the tools handle the boilerplate. Your tool sounds like it’s positioning itself perfectly for that 2026 'Architecture-first' mindset.
Looking forward to seeing how the custom service for dynamic hosting evolves & keep us posted on the Early Access updates! :)
