App Sprawl Is a Real Problem
I had separate apps for: a timer, a notes app, a weather widget, and a tab manager. Each one needed updates and storage. Most only got used while already in the browser.
So I moved them there.
The Extensions I Actually Use Daily
1. Weather & Clock Dashboard
Shows current weather, forecast, and world clocks on every new tab. Essential for remote work across time zones.
2. Tab Manager & Session Saver
Save a session, name it, reopen it a week later. Works for research sessions, client work, anything where you need to come back.
3. Daily Planner & To-Do List
Simple task list in the browser. Opens in a sidebar, takes 2 seconds to add a task, doesn't sync anywhere.
4. Quick Calculator
Does unit conversions and standard math from the browser toolbar. Faster for anything that already involves a browser.
The Trade-off
Extensions live in the browser. But for ambient tools you use 10x a day for 10 seconds each, browser extensions are genuinely better — no context switch, already where you are.
All four are free on Firefox Add-Ons. No accounts, no paid tiers, no upsells.
