Webhooks are the nervous system of modern business. Most teams treat them like background noise.
Every time a payment clears, an order ships or a repo gets a push, a webhook fires. One system tells another, “something happened.” Between them, these small HTTP calls hold together most of the integrations businesses depend on.
The trouble is how we usually handle them.
A webhook arrives, gets processed (or doesn’t), and disappears. If the receiving app was down, if the payload changed shape, or if the sender quietly stopped sending, you often find out days later, from a customer, with no record of what was actually sent.
From plumbing to orchestration
Webhook orchestration means treating every incoming request as a record worth managing, not traffic to forget. In practice:
Capture everything, in full: headers, body, sender and timing, stored and searchable, so “what did Stripe actually send us on the 14th?” takes seconds to answer.
Know when something doesn’t happen: the most expensive webhook is often the one that never arrived. Watching expected cadence turns silence into an alert.
Verify before you trust: check signatures at capture so you know which requests are genuine.
Shape the data in transit: one system sends 20 fields, yours needs 5 with different names. Map, add, remove and reformat values on the way through, instead of writing glue code for every pairing.
Deliver reliably, replay on demand: forward to your app with retries, keep every attempt’s outcome, and replay after a fix rather than asking the sender to resend.
What developers get
Less glue code and fewer mysteries. You debug with the actual request in front of you, test integrations against real payloads, and can assert in CI that a webhook fired with a single call. Replay turns “we lost those events” into “we re-sent them after the deploy.”
What API-connected businesses get
Integrations that hold up when partners change their APIs. Faster onboarding of new providers. An audit trail for every event that touched money, orders or customers. And earlier warning: you hear about a broken integration from an alert, not from a support ticket.
Where WebhookVault fits
We built WebhookVault to be the layer between your systems. Every sender gets a capture URL. Every request is kept in full, searchable, signature-checked, transformable and replayable, and Watchdogs alert you when an expected webhook goes quiet.
Your integrations shouldn’t have to change every time someone else’s API does. Shape the data once, and send it exactly where it needs to go.
