How I built a multi-currency escrow platform on a mobile phone in 7 days

Hey Devs! 👋

I’m Dominion, a self-taught developer from Nigeria. I wanted to share a project I just deployed: Domco Hub, a freelance marketplace with secure escrow and instant payouts.

But here’s the twist: I don’t own a laptop. I wrote all 4,653 lines of code on an Android phone using a split-screen.

Here is how I handled the most complex parts:

  1. The Multi-Currency Engine: Clients in the US/Europe want to pay in USD/GBP. Freelancers in Africa want to withdraw in NGN, GHS (Ghana), or KES (Kenya).

· The Display: When a user signs up, we save their country. When they browse Gigs, the app multiplies the base NGN price by a hardcoded exchange rate to show the local price.
· The Input: If a US client posts a job with a $100 budget, the frontend converts it to roughly ₦150,000 before saving it to Firebase.
· The Payout: When an African freelancer finishes the job, they can withdraw to local Mobile Money (MTN, Vodafone, M-Pesa) or international SWIFT.

  1. Real-Time Comms (Voice & Video): I wanted to eliminate the need for users to exchange WhatsApp numbers. I integrated the browser's MediaRecorder API for Voice Notes (uploaded to Cloudinary) and embedded Jitsi Meet iframes for in-app Video Calls.

The Stack:

· Vanilla HTML/CSS/JS (No React, no Vue).
· Firebase (Auth + Firestore).
· Node.js (Render backend).
· Flutterwave (Escrow & Payouts).
· Cloudinary (Media).

I'm looking for my first users and any feedback on the code architecture or UX.

(Also, if you are a dev who has built mobile-first, how do you handle testing on low-end devices?)
