What Is the CCAR-F Exam, and Is It Worth It? A Decision Guide for Claude Builders

CCAR-F, or Claude Certified Architect – Foundations, is the Foundations certification in Anthropic’s Architect track. It tests production architecture decisions across Claude Code, the Claude Agent SDK, the Claude API, agentic systems, Model Context Protocol (MCP), prompt engineering, structured output, context management, and reliability.

The exam has 60 multiple-choice and multiple-response questions, lasts 120 minutes, and costs $125. Pearson VUE delivers it online or at a test centre. Anthropic currently limits access to people at organizations in the Claude Partner Network.
